Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt alongside his family and security details, following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency.
A close source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed to The Punch that Fubara left the seat of power on Wednesday morning.
Despite his departure, security presence at the Government House remains minimal. However, the two Armoured Personnel Carriers stationed outside the premises on Tuesday night are still in place, with a handful of operatives on duty.
Meanwhile, normal activities continue across Port Harcourt and its environs.
As of 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, the newly appointed state administrator, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.), had yet to assume office.
However, preparations for his arrival were underway, with about 15 soldiers stationed inside the Government House premises.
