Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has been a vocal critic of President Bola Tinubu’s political approach, particularly condemning what he terms the “politics of entitlement.” While there is no direct record of Bakare using the phrase “motor park brand of politics,” he has consistently criticized Tinubu’s political style, especially the “Emilokan” (Yoruba for “it’s my turn”) rhetoric, suggesting it fosters authoritarianism and a sense of entitlement.

In a sermon titled “Vice, Virtue & Time: Three Things That Never Stand Still,” Bakare warned that the “Emilokan” brand of politics could lead to an imperial presidency, intolerant of dissent and detached from the populace . He emphasized that such politics of entitlement could manifest as perennial candidacy, not with the intent to serve, but to gratify long-time personal ambitions .

Bakare also criticized Tinubu’s handling of national issues, such as the removal of fuel subsidies, describing it as impulsive and detrimental to the poor, urging the President to “kill corruption, not Nigerians” .

These critiques have drawn responses from the All Progressives Congress (APC), with party officials labeling Bakare as inconsistent and urging him to focus on his pastoral duties.
