Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared that residents of Abuja are ready to take a stand against the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, in the upcoming local government elections.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, Kingibe criticised Wike’s leadership style, accusing him of being disconnected from the realities and needs of FCT residents.
“The truth is that the people of the FCT resent Wike. They are not happy with his attitude and his failure to meet their needs,” she stated.
According to the senator, the council elections will serve as a litmus test for Wike’s popularity, or lack of it, among the people he governs.
“The people will show him who owns the FCT during the council polls,” Kingibe added, insisting that the elections would be a referendum on his performance and policies.
