Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has issued a strong warning to Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, urging him to urgently make a move to the English Premier League (EPL) or risk deep regret in the future.
Oliseh’s remarks come amid reports that Osimhen is close to joining Turkish side Galatasaray on a permanent transfer from Napoli, following a successful loan spell with the club last season. While the potential Galatasaray move might seem like a comfortable option, Oliseh believes it could be a step down for a player of Osimhen’s caliber.
Victor is at a very delicate crossroad,” Oliseh said. “He needs to find his way to the Premier League in a hurry or he risks so much regret. He is at the peak of his power and must challenge himself among the best.”
Osimhen had been linked with top EPL clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, but none have finalized a move due to concerns over Napoli’s hefty asking price. With a release clause believed to be around €120 million, many clubs have been cautious.
The possibility of Osimhen moving to Galatasaray—despite his talent and status as CAF Men’s Player of the Year (2023)—has sparked concern among fans and pundits, who feel he should be competing at the highest level in Europe.
If this Galatasaray deal goes through, it could signal a shift in Osimhen’s career trajectory, one that might limit his chances of shining on the biggest stages like the UEFA Champions League or attracting top-tier EPL attention in the future.
