Posters of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello have surfaced across major routes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), particularly along the busy Airport Road, indicating his likely entry into the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairmanship.

The development comes ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for July 24, where a decision is expected on appointing a substantive national chairman.

According to an insider, the NEC may opt to endorse Bukar Dalori as acting national chairman, with plans to convene a full national convention in December to elect a permanent chair.

“The NEC may merely endorse Bukar Dalori emergence as acting National Chairman ahead of December convention,” the source told Nigerian Tribune confidentially.

Sources also disclosed that the chairmanship slot has been zoned to the North Central, with other strong contenders including former Nasarawa Governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, and ex-Plateau Governor, Senator Joshua Dariye.

Yahaya Bello’s sudden visibility through campaign posters suggests his intention to jostle for influence in what is shaping up to be a tightly contested race within the ruling party.
