Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has issued a strict warning to former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, cautioning him against entering the state without prior notice.

According to him, “The man we say he no get shi shi I am sending a direct message to him. He cannot come to Edo without telling me. A new Sheriff is in town.

“His security cannot be guaranteed. We are serious about it. Whatever that happens to him when he comes to Edo State, he will take it. He came the other day and donated N15m. By the time he left after donating the money, there was crisis and three people died in Benin. Tell Obi he should not to come to Edo without telling me.”

Governor Okpebholo made the statement while receiving Hon. Marcus Onobun, the House of Representatives member for Esan West/Igueben/Central, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okpebholo made it clear that he was not making an empty threat, insisting that the state must be respected under his leadership.

Obi had visited St. Philomena Hospital in Benin City last week, donating N15 million to the facility. Shortly after his visit, the state witnessed a wave of cult-related violence that claimed at least 12 lives.

Onobun, while speaking at the event, noted that he had faced harassment to join the APC but was now officially back with the party.
