Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has expressed concern that whoever succeeds him might not share the same religious and God-fearing values he upholds.

Speaking on Wednesday at the Government House in Owerri while receiving a delegation of leaders from the Owerri Zone, Uzodimma made it known that the process of selecting his successor must remain both transparent and democratic.

The governor noted that although he introduced the Imo Charter of Equity to ensure fairness and inclusivity in the rotation of power across the state’s three zones, the charter should be seen only as a guiding framework rather than an automatic guarantee.

He explained: “The Charter of Equity is not a slogan for confusion. It is a document to remind us of the imbalance in the system and see how best to correct it.

“But it must work hand in hand with democratic processes. You must join me now for us to cure this confusion.

“If we don’t, the man coming after me may not be as religious and God-fearing as I am.”
