The leadership dispute within the Rivers State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has finally been resolved, with the national body reaffirming Mr. Cyril Dum Wite as the duly recognized chairman.
In a clarification letter dated August 25, 2025, and addressed to the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Sports Development, the SWAN National Secretariat emphasized that Dum Wite was validly elected on April 4, 2024. His tenure, the letter noted, runs for three years and is expected to conclude in April 2027.
The correspondence, which was also copied to Dum Wite and SWAN National Ex-Officio, Mr. China Acheru, underscored the national leadership’s recognition of their roles and authority.
With this firm declaration, the national body has put lingering doubts to rest while throwing its full support behind Dum Wite to lead Rivers SWAN until the end of his tenure in 2027.
