Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has assured Nigerians that the Abuja–Kaduna highway is now far safer, crediting it to improved security presence and ongoing reconstruction along the major route.
Omokri, who toured the highway on Thursday, praised the Tinubu administration for tackling both the security challenges and the road’s infrastructure needs.
He noted that multiple military outposts have been strategically stationed at close intervals, a development that has transformed the once-dangerous stretch, formerly notorious for kidnappings and banditry, into a route with visible government-backed protection.
“The government has done what needs to be done on security, and it is also addressing road construction. Abuja to Kaduna road is safe. There are security outposts at every kilometre, and they are mobile. The security here is not by faith but by the visible work of government,” he said.
Omokri revealed that he invited Nollywood actor, Wale Ojo, to join the tour, during which Ojo opted to shoot scenes for his upcoming action movie, Lagos Heist, along the highway as proof of its safety.
“The movie was meant for Vegas, but I said no—let’s do it here in Nigeria,” Omokri explained.
Ojo, impressed by the level of security and construction work, remarked: “Kaduna road was notorious for attacks in the past, but government has addressed security. I want to film in the North to showcase unity.”
Omokri also highlighted the durability of the ongoing reconstruction, stressing that the road is being reinforced with concrete and steel to ensure it lasts for at least 50 years.
