
Over 1,000 schools are expected to participate in the 2025 edition of the Zenith Bank/Delta Principals’ Cup Football competition, which kicks off on September 18.
The eighth edition of the competition will be staged at St Patrick College, Asaba, with Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori scheduled to perform the official kick-off.
Registration for schools took place between Monday, September 8, and Friday, September 12, at various secondary schools within Delta State.
In Warri South West Local Government, 11 schools will compete, with the opening fixture scheduled for September 22 when Agogboro Secondary School face Ikpere Secondary School.
Warri South LG will parade 24 schools, with Obodo Secondary School taking on Nana College in the opening fixture on September 22.
Ukwani Local Government has 31 teams competing for honours, with the opening game between Amai Secondary School and Ezionum Secondary School.
Bomadi Local Government have 16 teams fighting for honours between September 22 and 26.
A press briefing will take place on Tuesday, September 16, at the Ministry Conference room ahead of the official kick-off.
The organisers announced that screening will take place before all kick-off games of the preliminaries, with matches starting at 2pm daily.
The tournament will continue with zonal matches at eight designated venues within the state between Tuesday, September 30, and Thursday, October 2.
The final eight teams will play their quarter-final games on Tuesday, October 7, at four designated venues to be determined based on the location of qualified schools.
Nine local governments have also registered technical colleges to participate in the 2025 edition of the Zenith Bank/Delta Principals’ Cup.
