Former Osun State Governor and now National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has thrown down the gauntlet, promising that his party will storm Aso Rock and capture Lagos in the 2027 elections.
The declaration came in Lagos on Saturday, as Hon. Moshood Salvador, leader of the Conscience Forum of the Labour Party (LP), led his faction into the ADC fold.
The event also marked the Forum’s 25th anniversary.
ADC leaders, ward executives and zonal chiefs from across Lagos thronged the gathering as Aregbesola welcomed the defectors with a battle cry for power.
“I am happy to be a part of this gathering. I am also happy to receive you into the ADC folds… surely, Alausa is a sure ticket for all of us,” he said, brimming with confidence.
“With our resolve, it won’t be difficult at all to take over the seat of power… We will surely meet at the Aso Rock Villa and produce the next president of the country.”
Salvador, in turn, rubbished the Labour Party as a sinking ship.
“Our members were in Labour Party and the problem of the Labour Party has shown that they have lost the future. Its no more a party of the future and that is why, we have to think of where next,” he said.
With over 400,000 members in Lagos alone, Salvador’s Conscience Forum is now anchoring its future to the ADC, a move Aregbesola insists will reshape Nigeria’s political map.
