The Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) 2023 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo has declared that President Bola Tinubu rescued Nigeria’s economy from the mess left behind by Muhammadu Buhari.
“It’s obvious that the economy that President Buhari left was a poorly managed economy, and was an emergency room patient,” Adebayo said on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
He didn’t stop there. Adebayo insisted Tinubu only managed to stabilise the patient but has yet to find a cure.
“What President Tinubu has done is to stabilise the patient, but I’m not sure that he has managed to know the ailment. So the patient is not going to die imminently, but he hasn’t found a cure.”
The SDP chieftain further slammed Tinubu as Nigeria’s “well-known tax collector,” warning that his Lagos-style tax drive has now gone national.
“Everybody knows that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a well-known tax collector. He did tax collection in Lagos and he came to do tax collection in Abuja,” Adebayo declared.
In June, Tinubu signed four sweeping tax reform bills, which critics say could hit ordinary Nigerians even harder when they take effect from January 1, 2026.
