Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed immense happiness over the judgment of the Presidential Petition Election Court (PEPC), which upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the February 25 election.
Buhari, while congratulating his successor after the PEPC judgment, said democracy has won as the choice the citizens made in the presidential election has been respected by the judiciary.
A statement issued by his media aide, Garba Shehu, quoted the ex-president as saying: “If anybody has won today, it is the democracy and the people,” adding, “With the verdict of the Supreme Court, the election period is over and it is time to put the heat and dust behind us.”
He further noted that the court wrote history by “spurning intimidation” and all manner of prejudice to deliver justice according to law.
The former President appreciated Nigerian citizens for maintaining peace throughout the presidential litigation and prayed for continued progress and development under the APC government.
He, therefore, advised the Tinubu-led administration to get the support of everyone to deliver on the promises the APC made to the people.
