The Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, on Wednesday, sacked the state governor, Yusuf Abba, of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), setting aside his victory in last year’s governorship election.
In a much awaited judgement that had heightened tension in the state, the tribunal, consequently, declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nasir Gawuna, winner of the March 18 governorship poll.
It further ruled that the Certificate of Return presented to Yusuf by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, be withdrawn.
INEC had declared Yusuf winner of the poll with 1,019,602 votes to defeat his closest challegener Gawuna, who scored 890,705 votes.
