Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has again made it clear that politics is not for him, saying not even with a $1 billion offer on the table can make him join it.
Speaking at the church’s annual Shiloh gathering, the 71-year-old cleric told worshippers that partisan politics is completely outside his divine calling, urging members to remain focused on their God-given assignments.
“Partisan politics is off my calling. If you give me $1 billion to join politics, I won’t, because it’s off my course,” he said.
Oyedepo charged believers to rise as agents of change, describing them as part of God’s end-time army destined to influence society.
“The world is groaning in darkness, but as embedded in Romans 8:19, the world is waiting for the earnest manifestations of the children of God.”
“The army of God is about to emerge to proffer solutions to national crises in the order of Joseph and Daniel. It is the day of what eyes have not seen or ears heard,” he added.
This is not the first time the outspoken preacher has rejected political ambition. At a leadership summit in 2022, Oyedepo dismissed the idea of holding public office, saying even the presidency would amount to a step down from his calling.
“I believe in Nigeria and that’s why I am still here, and still praying for Nigeria. But I consider it a demotion if I am invited to become the president of Nigeria. I am called for a global impact. I saw this in 1984.
“Even the devil knows that you can’t be genuinely sold-out to serving God, and not stand out in life. Since 1976, I have never missed a change of story.
“I was 19 years old when I prayed to God not to let me leave a village the way I met it. So I was 19 when I encountered destiny. I have not been tired going out for God since 1976.”
