The Anambra State Government has unveiled plans to expand the Solution Innovation District (SID) as part of efforts to create more jobs, attract technology investments and position the state as a leading innovation hub in Africa.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, said the initiative is a key component of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s development agenda aimed at driving digital transformation and economic growth.
According to her, the next phase of the programme will focus on expanding digital infrastructure, supporting startups, strengthening innovation ecosystems and creating technology-driven employment opportunities for young people across the state.
Okoli disclosed that several Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms are preparing to establish operations in Anambra, attracted by the growing pool of digitally skilled youths trained through the state’s innovation programmes.
She noted that the development is expected to generate thousands of jobs, stimulate economic growth, attract investments and enhance Anambra’s competitiveness in the global technology sector.
The state government also plans to activate the new SID facility as a hub for technology companies, startups and digital service providers, while strengthening job placement opportunities for trained youths.
