Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has delivered a grim verdict on the worsening political crisis in Rivers State, declaring that Governor Siminalayi Fubara may now be beyond political solutions.

Speaking bluntly on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Fayose said only spiritual intervention and presidential involvement can rescue the embattled governor as impeachment threats loom and tensions with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike worsen.

“I’m not a prophet, but what is happening in Rivers now, it will take fasting and prayers to save Fubara; it takes the President intervening.

“How can he be appointing people in his cabinet and spending money without constitutional backing and approval of the State Assembly?

“People are talking about Wike; remove Wike. Can you remove who or what he is? Can’t you see people popping out during his rallies?”

Fayose blamed the crisis on what he described as constitutional breaches by Fubara, accusing him of sidelining the Rivers State House of Assembly in governance decisions, a move he said opened the door to the current confrontation.

Recounting a past warning, Fayose revealed he had cautioned Fubara against confronting Wike from the very beginning.

“During his inauguration, I told Wike that I wanted to tell Fubara one or two things against betraying him, but Wike said I shouldn’t worry, that Fubara will not do it, I told Fubara not to fight that man that he will fight and not stop fighting.”

The former governor also dragged President Bola Tinubu into the political drama, stressing that the President detests ingratitude and that political loyalty still matters at the highest level.

He warned that without Tinubu’s support, political careers can collapse overnight, arguing that Wike himself could have faded politically if not for his appointment as FCT Minister.

In a striking metaphor, Fayose likened Fubara to a bride attracting multiple suitors, but reminded them of who brought her to prominence.

“Fubara is the beautiful bride, all the governors courting him today should know that Wike made him.”
