As of this morning, workers under the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) have officially commenced an indefinite strike, shutting down secretariats, departments, and agencies across the FCT.
• The Grievances: The workers are protesting what they describe as a total collapse of welfare.
Key issues include:
• Unpaid Wage Awards: Five months of arrears for the national wage award remain unpaid.
• Promotion & Arrears: Stalled promotions and non-payment of outstanding promotion arrears.
• Pension & Housing Funds: Allegations that the administration has failed to remit pension contributions and National Housing Fund (NHF) deductions since May 2025.
• Administrative Paralysis: Unions claim that overhead costs for departments have not been released for six months, leaving offices without basic working materials.
Protesting workers have picketed the Minister’s office, openly criticizing the administration for focusing on political battles while the civil service “falls apart.”
