Plans to probe Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have hit a major roadblock after the state’s Chief Judge, Simeon Amadi, flatly declined to set up a judicial panel to investigate the governor.
Amadi turned down the request from the Rivers State House of Assembly, pointing to an existing court order that prevents him from constituting the proposed seven-member panel.
The lawmakers had sought a judicial probe into allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, but the Chief Judge’s decision has thrown the process into uncertainty.
