Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, is set to make a return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) this Monday, bringing a massive political wave with him.
The governor resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) on Friday, taking 21 State Assembly members, eight federal lawmakers, and all 44 local government chairmen in Kano along for the ride.
Speaking on the move, his spokesperson, Bature Tofa, said, “Yusuf’s journey across different political platforms, including the NNPP, has led him back to a familiar and structured platform for progressive governance.”
Tofa recalled that Yusuf first joined the APC in 2014 after winning the party’s primary for Kano Central senatorial seat before ceding the position to former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He stressed that rejoining the APC will boost collaboration with the federal government, improve security, fast-track infrastructural projects, and ensure better service delivery across Kano.
The governor will officially register with the APC on Monday alongside 22 State Assembly members, eight federal legislators, and 44 LG chairmen.
The event will also kickstart the APC e-registration exercise in Kano.
