The Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority has advised motorists to take proper care of their vehicle number plates.

According to a post obtained from Lagos State’s X account on Friday, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LSNPPA, Mr. Olayanju Cole, made the statement during a meeting with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency led by its General Manager/CEO, Afolabi Solebo.

During the meeting, the LSNPPA Managing Director/CEO advised motorists to take proper care of their number plates, noting that “your number plate is your identity on the road.”

The engagement focused on concerns over faded and damaged number plates, as well as the need for motorists to replace old or defective plates with new, standardized ones issued by the Lagos State Government.

Cole also cautioned against cleaning number plates with chemically concentrated substances such as aromatic solvents, alcohol-based spirits, acetone, petrol, brake oil, kerosene, or abrasive materials, which can damage the plates and make them unreadable.

LASCOPA reiterated its commitment to protecting motorists’ rights and ensuring improved service delivery across Lagos State.
