Mmesoma, a young woman from Uga in Anambra State who was reportedly missing for several days, has allegedly been found dead in Unubi, amid disturbing claims circulating about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Unverified reports allege that her boyfriend, said to be from Ebonyi State and residing in Uga, may have been involved in the incident following the breakdown of their relationship.
According to the accounts circulating, the boyfriend allegedly contacted Mmesoma and asked her to meet with him under the pretext of reconciling after their breakup.
The reports further allege that she was strangled, her body placed inside a sack and transported on a motorcycle before being abandoned in a bush in Unubi.
Another troubling claim suggests that the suspect allegedly participated in the search for Mmesoma while she was missing. He was also reportedly seen attending church during the period the search was ongoing.
However, the circumstances surrounding Mmesoma’s reported death, the identity of any suspect and the allegations concerning the boyfriend have not been independently verified.
The incident has raised concerns about intimate partner violence and the importance of taking threats, stalking and abusive behaviour in relationships seriously.
Further details from the Anambra State Police Command are needed to establish the facts surrounding the case and determine whether anyone has been arrested or charged in connection with the reported death.
