UK beauty queen Eleisha Skinner was killed at 21 when her car suddenly rolled backward and crushed her against a university dormitory wall, while she was unpacking her belongings outside the student housing at Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe Town on Jan. 8 according to the Daily Telegraph.
Her family said Skinner remained conscious while pinned against the wall and managed to call for emergency services. Rescue teams arrived within minutes.
Despite rescue attempts by housemates and medical workers, Skinner died in hospital later the same day. The university said it will award her a posthumous bachelor’s degree in social work in recognition of her academic work, according to The Mirror.
Skinner won the Miss Faversham title in her hometown in 2022 and was well known in the local community. On Feb. 7, her family, friends and hundreds of local residents attended a memorial service at St Mary of Charity Church.
More than 200 people attended her funeral in Faversham Town. She was described as “beautiful, kind and selfless.” Her coffin was carried by a horse and carriage past her former school, The Abbey, along East Street before reaching the church.
