The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the official dates for Nigeria’s 2027 elections, setting the stage for the next political activities.

INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan announced on Friday that the Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on February 20, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls are scheduled for March 6.

The announcement comes amid rising concerns over delays in passing the amended Electoral Act.

INEC had earlier, on February 4, confirmed that the election timetable and schedule of activities were ready, but cautioned that some items could be affected depending on when the law is enacted.

With the dates out, political parties now have a clear roadmap to strategize, and the countdown to one of Nigeria’s most crucial elections officially begins.
