Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has refuted claims of an alleged “impeachment plot” against his deputy, Olayide Adelami, stressing that he’s a prophet.

Political discussions across Ondo State have recently been dominated by speculation suggesting a rift between the governor and his deputy.

The rumours, which first surfaced last year, alleged that certain members of the State House of Assembly were making moves to impeach the deputy governor.

The supposed impeachment agenda was reportedly tied to an internal ‘power tussle’ among political interests in Owo Local Government, the deputy governor’s hometown, as well as tensions involving the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Isaacs Omowunmi, who is said to be an ally of the governor.

However, speaking during the inauguration of the newly completed Ayegunle-Iwaro Oka road in Akoko South-West Local Government Area on Friday, Aiyedatiwa dismissed suggestions of discord between him and Adelami.

He maintained that the alleged impeachment scheme exists only in the imagination of political opponents bent on stirring unrest within his administration.

“Mr Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, I acknowledged your presence here. Thank you for holding forth for me yesterday when I have to traveled.

“Worthy amiable Deputy Governor. Some people are spreading one fake video. Those people wants to hear words.

“They claimed they want to remove the deputy governor. For where? Where they did they want to remove him (deputy governor) from? Don’t answer them please; they are only looking for relevance. That can’t happen because I’m also a Prophet of God,” the governor said.
