The All Progressives Congress (APC) is tightening its grip on the Federal Capital Territory, securing a third chairmanship seat in the ongoing Area Council elections.
In a commanding performance, Daniel Nuhu of the APC swept to victory in Kwali Area Council, polling 17,032 votes to defeat his closest rival, Haruna Pai of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 8,575 votes.
The result was announced early Sunday morning at the final collation centre in Kwali by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
With the Kwali victory, the APC now controls three of the four area councils declared so far, a clear show of strength in the FCT political battlefield.
Earlier, INEC had confirmed APC victories in AMAC and Bwari, while the PDP managed to secure Gwagwalada.
