The war of words ahead of the 2027 elections has intensified as Femi Fani-Kayode fires a fresh salvo at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring the opposition party may not even be able to present a candidate recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a post on his X handle on Wednesday, the APC chieftain tore into the party’s internal crisis, dismissing its list of big names and media appearances as empty theatrics.
“They can blow as much hot air, enlist as many big names, engage in as many photo ops, appear on all the television stations for their shallow and meaningless interviews and peddle as much fake news as they like,” he wrote.
Fani-Kayode insisted that behind the public show lies a party deeply fractured by infighting and legal battles, conditions he says could cripple its chances at the polls.
“But judging from their internal wranglings and warring factions it is getting clearer by the day that the ADC may not even be in a position to field an INEC-recognised presidential candidate in the next election,” he added.
He also issued a blunt warning to politicians eyeing the ADC as a political platform, describing such a move as a dead end.
“Supporting or joining ADC may ultimately end up being an exercise in futility for those that insist on treading that thorny path,” he said.
Despite the hard-hitting criticism, the former minister urged the embattled party to put its house in order, though not without a final jab.
“I appeal to them to get their house in order, bury their differences and stop taking each other to court so that they can produce a legitimate candidate that is recognised by INEC who we can have the opportunity to beat the hell and nonsense out of in the 2027 presidential election,” he stated.
Brimming with confidence, Fani-Kayode predicted a crushing defeat for the opposition, declaring that the ruling APC is poised for a dominant outing in 2027.
“Winning will not be as much fun unless we give them a good hiding in the field of battle. Whichever way they should prepare for a mighty fall and the greatest humiliation in the history of Nigerian politics,” he said.
