Troops of the Nigerian Army, under Operation UDO KA, have killed a suspected kidnapper and rescued a victim during a search-and-rescue operation in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
According to a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, security sources said the operation was carried out on April 3, 2026, at about 6:05 am, after a distress call was received from the Nigeria Police Force, Obolo Division, following a report by the Ezimo Community Neighbourhood Watch.
According to the sources, the troops, drawn from 82 Division Garrison and Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA, moved to the area and encountered the suspected kidnappers, resulting in a gun battle.
One of the suspects was neutralised, while others fled into the surrounding bush,” one of the sources said.
It was further gathered that during a follow-up search of the area, the troops were able to rescue a kidnapped victim.
Recovered items at the scene included six mobile phones, a power bank, a torchlight, as well as energy drinks, clothing, and food items.
The source added that the body of the neutralised suspect, along with the rescued victim, was handed over to the police for further action.

Authorities also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and ensure security in the area is maintained.
