A 27-year-old man, Kabiru Nuhu, has allegedly set his 60-year-old father ablaze in Kazaure Local Government Area.
A statement issued on Sunday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, that the suspect doused his father with a flammable substance before setting him on fire.
Adam said, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Kabiru Nuhu, poured a flammable substance, suspected to be petrol, on his father and set him ablaze.”
According to the PPRO, the incident occurred on April 1, 2026, at about 6:30 a.m. in Magama Quarters, Kazaure town, Kazaure Local Government Area.
“The victim was engulfed in flames after being set on fire, and we received a report from a resident, which led to the prompt response of our team.
“The suspect was arrested with fresh burn injuries and wounds on his forehead, arms and toes,” Adam said.
He added that the suspect is facing charges of patricide, a serious offence under Nigerian law.
