The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning to skit makers and content creators, urging them to refrain from portraying its operatives as bullies by illegally and irresponsibly using the commission’s operational identities.
In response to a viral video titled “EFCC and Army Wahala,” the EFCC expressed dissatisfaction with the incorrect portrayal of its operational etiquette in the video.
According to the spokesperson of the anti-graft agency, Dele Oyewale, the video’s shameful depiction of supposed EFCC operatives unleashing terror on suspects is not only embarrassing but also suggests a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the EFCC.
Oyewale clarified, “Operatives of the EFCC are not bullies. They are trained as refined modern law enforcement officers rich in decency, civility, and respect for members of the public, including suspects of economic and financial crimes.”
He issued a warning to skit makers, emphasizing that unauthorized use of the EFCC’s identities for their work is unacceptable.
Oyewale noted that the EFCC is prepared to take legal action against anyone caught using its operational identities improperly.
