A former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, has defeated incumbent lawmaker, Ngozi Okolie, in the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary for Oshimili South Federal Constituency in Delta State.
The primary, held across wards in Asaba, was conducted peacefully with a large turnout of accredited party members.
Our correspondent, who monitored the exercise in Wards 5, 9 and 11, observed orderly voting and steady participation of APC members throughout the process.
Voting was restricted to accredited card-carrying members of the party.
In Ward 11, party officials said Elumelu polled over 1,000 votes, while Okolie reportedly failed to secure a single vote in the ward.
The Returning Officer,. Kingsley Oniawa, described the exercise as peaceful and transparent.
“There was no issue. The process was peaceful and calm. I counted the votes accordingly and the outcome was peaceful,” he said.
