Igbo cultural enthusiast and social media personality, Nze Tobe Osigwe of Nnewi, Anambra State, has dismissed claims of an alleged Islamisation agenda in the South-East, describing such concerns as unfounded conspiracy theories.
Speaking on religion and cultural identity, Osigwe argued that Christianity is not indigenous to the Igbo people and maintained that there is nothing wrong with individuals embracing Islam or any other religion through personal choice.
He rejected claims of a coordinated effort to Islamise Igbo land, insisting that there is no credible evidence to support such allegations. While condemning forced religious conversion, he stated that no religion or ethnic group can dominate any Igbo community without the consent and participation of its people.
Osigwe further noted that millions of Igbo residents have lived in Northern Nigeria for decades without being compelled to abandon their faith, stressing the importance of religious freedom and informed personal choice.
