The Anambra State Government has unveiled plans to introduce a new law aimed at regulating housing rents and improving access to affordable accommodation across the state.
The decision was reached during the second meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) in Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s second term, held at the Government House, Awka.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Value Orientation, Dr. Law Mefor, the government said the proposed legislation is part of broader efforts to tackle housing challenges, address rising rental costs and create a more balanced housing market for residents.
The council noted that the planned law would be complemented by policies designed to stimulate mass housing development and reduce the housing deficit across the state.
To achieve this objective, the government said it would collaborate with private sector investors and developers to increase the supply of affordable housing while ensuring that residents are protected from excessive rent increases.
The initiative forms part of the Soludo administration’s commitment to improving living conditions and promoting sustainable urban development in Anambra State.
