A suspected cult member apprehended in Aba, Abia State, has shared a chilling account of how he allegedly joined a secret cult group during his university days, describing the decision as one of the biggest mistakes of his life.
According to the suspect, he was driven into cultism by repeated harassment, robbery incidents, and intimidation while in school. He claimed he believed joining the group would offer him protection and influence.
However, he alleged that shortly after his initiation, he became a victim of abuse by members of the same group, who reportedly assaulted him and dispossessed him of his personal belongings.
Reflecting on his experience, the suspect warned young people against cultism, saying the lifestyle brought him regret rather than the protection and respect he had expected.
The revelation comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies to clamp down on cult-related activities and other criminal networks across Abia State.
