The Ebonyi State Government has directed residents, farmers and developers occupying areas along the designated electricity transmission route to vacate immediately to ensure their safety and facilitate the completion of an ongoing power project.

The Commissioner for Power and Energy, Peter Oge-Ali, said the directive became necessary as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) advances work on the 132KV Power Transmission Line stretching from Mile 50, Abakaliki, to Amasiri in Afikpo Local Government Area.

According to the commissioner, transmission towers have already been erected and conductor stringing is currently underway, placing the project at an advanced stage of completion.

He stated that the affected areas cut across Ebonyi, Ezza North, Ezza South, Onicha and Afikpo Local Government Areas, urging residents and community leaders to cooperate fully with project officials.

The government noted that the project is expected to boost electricity supply and support socio-economic development across the state.
