Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has criticised former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as a “copy-and-paste politician” lacking originality in leadership and governance.

In a post on his X account, Onanuga argued that Obi failed to demonstrate independent thinking during his tenure as governor of Anambra State and has little to show for his eight years in office.

The presidential aide contrasted Obi’s record with that of President Bola Tinubu as former governor of Lagos State, citing institutions and development frameworks established under Tinubu’s administration that he said continue to impact Lagos positively.

Onanuga’s remarks came in response to discussions surrounding Obi’s previous references to Indonesia’s economic model as a template for Nigeria’s development.

He maintained that President Tinubu possesses a stronger record of leadership, vision, and policy implementation, insisting that Obi cannot be compared with the Nigerian leader.

The comments add to the growing political exchanges between supporters and associates of both leaders ahead of future political contests.
