The Ebonyi State Police Command has launched an investigation and vowed to arrest and prosecute those responsible for an attack on the School of Nursing in Ezzamgbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, unidentified gunmen stormed the institution at about 2:00 a.m., allegedly robbing students of their phones and other valuables before vandalising parts of the hostel.

The attack left seven students injured, while doors and windows in the affected hostel were damaged. Four of the injured students are receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Ezzamgbo, while three others were taken to a hospital in Abakaliki.

Ukandu said police operatives responded swiftly after receiving a distress call, but the attackers had fled the scene before their arrival.

He assured that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, reiterating the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and improving security around educational institutions in the state.
