Panic has swept through parts of Kwara State following coordinated attacks by suspected bandits on several communities in Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas, leaving one person dead and several residents abducted.
The attacks reportedly occurred late Thursday night in Gaa-Oke Abba, Gaa-Alla and Famole communities, forcing many residents to flee their homes and seek safety in nearby bushes and neighbouring villages.
Community sources said at least two residents were abducted in Gaa-Alla, while the number of persons kidnapped in Gaa-Oke Abba was yet to be confirmed as search efforts continued.
In Famole community, one resident was reportedly killed during a confrontation between the attackers and local vigilantes who attempted to repel the invasion.
The incidents have heightened concerns over rising insecurity in parts of Kwara State, particularly in rural communities that have witnessed repeated cases of kidnapping and violent attacks.
Residents have appealed to security agencies to intensify surveillance and deploy more personnel to vulnerable areas to prevent further attacks and restore confidence among affected communities.
