Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has praised the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Police following the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition allegedly linked to the outlawed Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the state.
During a visit to the DSS headquarters in Enugu on Friday, Mbah inspected the recovered weapons, which included a rocket launcher, RPG warheads, AK-47 rifles, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, as well as NYSC uniforms and lanyards.
The governor commended the collaboration among security agencies, describing the operation as a major breakthrough in efforts to prevent criminal attacks and maintain peace in the South-East. He noted that the recovered weapons could have been used to unleash violence across the region if not intercepted.
Mbah also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for supporting states in the fight against insecurity, stating that improved cooperation among security agencies has contributed significantly to recent successes against criminal elements.
Security sources said the operation followed intelligence reports indicating plans by suspected ESN members to launch attacks in Enugu and other South-East states.
