The Anambra State Government has confirmed the arrest of a pastor, Harrison Charles, founder of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, over allegations of controversial practices involving members of his congregation.

According to government officials, the cleric was apprehended by operatives of the state’s security outfit, Agunechemba, following the circulation of a viral video in which serious allegations were made against him.

The pastor is accused of persuading married women to abandon their husbands and become his wives, with some claims suggesting that dozens of women may have been involved. He is also being investigated over allegations of encouraging wife-swapping among church members.

Confirming the development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr. Ejimofor Opara, said the suspect has been handed over to the police for a thorough investigation in collaboration with the Anambra State Government.

The government stated that the arrest is part of its broader effort to clamp down on individuals allegedly operating fraudulent or exploitative religious organisations within the state.

Authorities emphasized that investigations are ongoing and urged the public to allow law enforcement agencies to establish the facts surrounding the allegations.

The case has generated widespread public attention across Anambra State and beyond, following the emergence of the viral video and the gravity of the accusations against the cleric.
