Residents of Enugwu Village in Adazi-Enu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, have celebrated what they described as the resolution of a decades-long dispute over the autonomous community system.
The celebration followed a Supreme Court judgment that Governor Chukwuma Soludo said has finally settled the protracted legal battle surrounding the creation and recognition of autonomous communities in the state.
Thousands of residents gathered at the village square, expressing joy over what they described as the return of peace, unity, and stability after more than 40 years of communal disagreements and leadership tussles.
Speaking during the event, Chairman of Enugwu Village, Jideofor Okongwu, thanked Governor Soludo for his role in resolving the crisis, noting that the prolonged dispute had hindered development and created divisions within the community.
He described the court ruling as a new beginning for the people and appealed to the state government to support the revival of abandoned infrastructure projects, including the road linking the community to Nnewi.
Residents expressed optimism that the end of the dispute would pave the way for accelerated development, stronger community relations, and renewed economic activities in the area.
