The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured residents of Enugu North Senatorial District of a free, fair, and credible by-election scheduled for Saturday.
The assurance was given in Enugu by the Head of the Department of Voter Education, Chuka Achumie, who said the commission has completed all necessary preparations for a transparent electoral process.
The by-election is being conducted to fill the vacant Enugu North senatorial seat following the death of Senator Okey Ezea, who previously represented the district.
Voting will take place across the six local government areas in the district, including Igbo-Etiti, Igbo-Eze North, Igbo-Eze South, Nsukka, Udenu, and Uzo-Uwani, with seven candidates from different political parties cleared to contest.
INEC stated that sensitive election materials will be deployed ahead of the exercise, while all participating parties will be given equal opportunity during the poll.
Mr. Achumie urged eligible voters to turn out peacefully and participate actively in the electoral process, assuring that adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth and credible election.
He added that INEC remains committed to delivering elections that reflect the will of the people.
