The residence of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi state, was attacked by unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Friday, INEC has confirmed.
The incident, as reported by the electoral umpire, took place around 3:30 am.
According to a post on INEC’s official Facebook page, the gunmen engaged security operatives in a gun battle that lasted for half an hour.
