A pro-Tinubu support group, Ndigbo for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI-ABAT), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the reconstruction of the historic Umuwanwa Bridge in Abia State, describing the project as a major infrastructure breakthrough nearly six decades after its destruction during the Nigerian Civil War.
In a communiqué issued after its State Executive Committee meeting in Umuahia, the group said the bridge, destroyed in 1967, had remained neglected for over 50 years until the Federal Government approved its reconstruction.
The forum also praised ongoing federal infrastructure projects in the Southeast, including rehabilitation works along the Aba–Port Harcourt section of the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, and commended the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for driving development across the region.
The group urged eligible voters, especially youths and first-time voters, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in future elections.
On the 2027 Abia governorship election, NDI-ABAT clarified that it has not endorsed any candidate, stating that any future political position would be guided by directives from its national leadership.
The forum further announced plans to host the 2026 Asiwaju Summit in Enugu, aimed at showcasing the Tinubu administration’s projects in the Southeast, promoting policy awareness, and encouraging greater political participation among Ndi Igbo.
The group concluded by calling for stronger political engagement across the Southeast to enhance regional influence and attract more federal development opportunities.
