The Delta State Football Association has commenced a five-day CAF/NFF ‘D’ Coaching Licence Course for forty football coaches in Asaba, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots football development and improve coaching standards across the state.

The training, organised in collaboration with FPG Technologies, is being facilitated by top football experts, including NFF Technical Director and former Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen, alongside CAF Technical Instructor, Edema Fuludu.

Declaring the training open, the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Onoriode Oborevwori, represented by the Director General of the Commission, Emuobo Egalase, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to sports development, and urged participants to actively engage in the sessions and apply the knowledge gained to improve their coaching skills.
“Knowing full well that the facilitators are ex-internationals with much experience, the participants have a lot to learn and gain from them. They are expected to go to the grassroots to impart the coaching skills and knowledge to the upcoming coaches as well as teaching the footballers. I urge them to take the training seriously because it’s going to be a plus for them in their career path”, he stated.

Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Chief Godwin Adode, who described the programme as a strategic investment in the future of football in Delta State, called on the participants to remain committed, focused and make the most of the opportunity.

Adode said, “This programme is a major investment in the development of grassroots football and the future of coaches in Delta State. I urge every participant to take this training very serious by being punctual and fully engaged throughout the course. I have no doubt that the knowledge and certification that you will acquire will translate into better coaching through player development and stronger football culture across all our communities,

I also thank the Delta State Sports Commission for unwavering commitment to football development. Speaking at the training, Lead Facilitator and NFF Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen, assured participants that the resource persons would equip them with the technical knowledge required to enhance grassroots coaching, and noted that the Nigeria Football Federation, under the leadership of Shehu Dikko, remains committed to football development through continuous capacity building for coaches across the country.

Some participants, including two female coaches, expressed appreciation to the organisers, saying the training would greatly improve their coaching performance and contribute to the growth of football at the grassroots.
