A coalition of stakeholders in Enugu State has declared that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s performance in office is transforming governance and diminishing the opposition’s ability to criticise his administration, citing what it described as visible achievements across critical sectors.
The group, Concerned Stakeholders for Good Governance, made the assertion during a media briefing in Enugu, where its Convener, Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr., said the governor’s reforms and development projects have continued to earn public confidence and reshape the state’s political landscape.
According to Nwaokobia, effective opposition thrives where governments fail to deliver on their promises, but Governor Mbah’s administration has altered that reality through purposeful leadership and measurable development.
“Opposition thrives on abandoned projects, broken promises and loss of public trust. In Enugu today, the people are witnessing projects, progress and purposeful governance. That reality is leaving little room for unfounded criticism,” he said.
He noted that since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Mbah has focused on delivering results rather than engaging in political rhetoric, implementing projects that are unprecedented in the state’s history.
Among the landmark initiatives highlighted by the coalition is the establishment of a Centre for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation, which it described as a major boost to security, criminal investigations and the justice system.
The group also applauded the construction of Smart Green Schools across all 260 political wards in the state, describing the initiative as a transformative investment designed to equip future generations with technology-driven learning opportunities.
In the health sector, the stakeholders commended the rollout of Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the wards, noting that the initiative is expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly for residents of rural communities.
They further praised the administration’s extensive road construction and urban renewal projects, saying the interventions are improving infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and stimulating economic activities across the state.
On security, the coalition said the deployment of modern surveillance technology and integrated command centres has strengthened public safety and improved investor confidence.
The group also commended the government’s economic policies, stating that ongoing efforts to attract investments, promote enterprise and industrialisation are gradually reducing the state’s dependence on federal allocations.
According to the stakeholders, the administration is equally repositioning agriculture through mechanisation and value-chain development, with the sector expected to become a major contributor to economic growth.
Nwaokobia maintained that the Mbah administration has entrenched a governance culture built on accountability, transparency and service delivery.
“People are no longer interested in empty promises. They want visible results, and that is exactly what Governor Peter Mbah is delivering,” he said.
While acknowledging the vital role of opposition in a democratic society, the coalition urged political actors to base their criticisms on verifiable facts rather than speculation.
It added that the administration’s achievements across education, healthcare, infrastructure, security and economic development have significantly raised public expectations and redefined governance in Enugu State.
“The strongest response to opposition is performance, and in Enugu today, performance is speaking louder than words,” Nwaokobia concluded.
The coalition called on residents to continue supporting the state government’s ongoing reforms, expressing confidence that they would lay a solid foundation for sustainable development and long-term prosperity.
