This formed the focus of a working visit by the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo, who led senior officials of the ministry to the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) plant in Nnewi.

The delegation was received by the Chairman and Founder of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, Chief Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma, OFR, who conducted the team on a tour of the company’s production facilities.

During the visit, Chief Chukwuma showcased the vehicle assembly process and ongoing expansion projects aimed at increasing local automobile production capacity and advancing Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda.

The renowned industrialist reiterated his commitment to promoting indigenous manufacturing, stressing that increased patronage of locally produced vehicles would create employment opportunities, strengthen the economy, reduce dependence on imports and encourage national self-reliance.

Commending the achievements of the company, Commissioner Ibuzo described Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing as a symbol of innovation, resilience and private-sector excellence that continues to boost confidence in Nigeria’s manufacturing industry.

He called for deeper collaboration between the Anambra State Government and Innoson, noting that strategic partnerships with indigenous manufacturers would accelerate transport reforms, encourage innovation and support sustainable economic growth across the state.

According to the commissioner, leveraging locally manufactured vehicles would not only strengthen public transportation but also contribute significantly to the state’s industrial and economic development objectives.

Following the facility tour, Chief Chukwuma hosted the delegation at his residence in Nnewi, where discussions centred on areas of mutual interest and opportunities for future collaboration. He also offered prayers for the commissioner, the Anambra State Government and the nation.
