Ahead of the 2027 general elections, members drawn from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and other political groups in Anambra State have declared their support for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha Federal Constituency, Chief Chukwudi Oli.
The endorsement was announced during a consultative meeting between the political group and the APGA House of Representatives campaign organisation held in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area.
The APGA delegation was led by the Director-General of the campaign organisation and former Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, Chief George Ozor. Other party leaders at the meeting included the APGA candidate, Chief Chukwudi Oli, APGA Chairman in Njikoka LGA, Chief Onyenechi Ezeaso, retired Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi, Chief Chibuzo Oli and Chief Ogochukwu Egolum.
Speaking on behalf of the coalition, its leader, Ozo Ejiamatu, said members of the group resolved to support Oli because of what they described as his commitment to community development and his passion for improving the welfare of the people across the Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha Federal Constituency.
According to him, although members of the group belong to different political parties, they chose to unite behind Oli because they believe he possesses the capacity to provide quality representation at the National Assembly.
“We are members of different political parties, including the PDP, APC and NDC, but we have decided to support Chief Chukwudi Oli because we believe his election will serve the interests of our people. We want a representative who will prioritise development and deliver effective representation,” he said.
The group maintained that its endorsement was based on Oli’s leadership qualities and not on party affiliation, stressing that the decision does not amount to adopting other APGA candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Responding, Chief Chukwudi Oli expressed appreciation for the endorsement, assuring the group that he would justify the confidence reposed in him if elected.
He said his campaign is built on the principles of accountability, transparency, inclusiveness and people-centred leadership, promising to focus on attracting development projects and improving the welfare of constituents rather than pursuing personal interests.
Oli also pledged to draw inspiration from the philanthropic ideals of his mentor, Prince Arthur Eze, stating that his goal is to improve the quality of life of residents across the federal constituency.
Chairman of the campaign organisation, Chief George Ozor, described the endorsement as a major boost to the APGA campaign, expressing confidence that the growing support from across party lines would strengthen the party’s chances in what he described as one of the most competitive House of Representatives elections in Anambra State.
Similarly, the APGA Chairman in Njikoka Local Government Area, Hon. Chinedu Anakwe, commended the group for its confidence in the party’s candidate, describing the cross-party support as a significant morale booster for APGA and its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
