The media team of former Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Ahamefule Orji, has dismissed as false and malicious reports circulating on social media alleging that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided his residence in Umuahia and recovered large sums of money, election materials, gold jewellery and luxury vehicles.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Media Director of the Chinedum Orji Media Organisation, Mr. Paul Njoku, described the viral reports as fabricated and urged members of the public to disregard them.

According to the statement, no EFCC operation was carried out at the former governor’s residence in Umuahia or any other location, contrary to claims widely shared on social media.

“At no time did the EFCC raid his residence in Umuahia or any other location in Nigeria. Consequently, no incriminating items, election materials or any of the alleged exhibits were recovered because no such operation ever took place,” the statement read.

The organisation maintained that Chief Theodore Orji is in good health and dismissed the publication as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, damage reputations and create unnecessary panic.

It explained that although it initially considered ignoring the reports, it decided to issue a clarification following enquiries from friends, associates, supporters and members of the public.

The media team urged journalists and the public to verify sensitive information through credible and official sources before publishing or sharing such claims.

The statement also reaffirmed the group’s commitment to supporting the political aspirations of former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

According to the organisation, it would not be distracted by what it described as attempts by unscrupulous individuals to spread falsehood and propaganda.

As of the time of filing this report, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has not issued any official statement regarding the viral claims or the rebuttal by the former governor’s media team.
