A 23-year-old Nigerian medical graduate, Nnani Adaobi Marian, has died in Germany after sustaining critical injuries during a Russian airstrike in Kharkiv.

Marian, a graduate of Kharkiv National Medical University, was severely injured on June 29 when a guided aerial bomb struck the city. She was initially treated in Kharkiv before being evacuated to Germany for specialised medical care.

Despite efforts by medical teams in both Ukraine and Germany, she later succumbed to her injuries.

Her death has drawn attention to the ongoing humanitarian impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict on foreign nationals, including Nigerian students living and studying in the region.
